Our preschool and kindergarten program provides an active learning environment for students. It is designed to educate in every aspect in a creative and engaging manner. Students are exposed to reading, phonics, language skills, and math in the mornings while in the afternoon a variety of educational activities are provided. These include Bible, music and dance, cooking, science, social studies, art, library and, of course, time to just play.
We explore different themes that are approached every year. Children will learn about nursery rhymes, apples and pumpkins, the post office, seasons, holiday traditions, musical instruments, food and nutrition, weather, bugs and insects, spring – plants and flowers, animals, bubbles, among many others.
Preschool and kindergarten students take part in weekly chapels along with the rest of the elementary students.
Irrespective of the type of subjects being taught, our teachers are always intentional in ensuring the well-rounded development of each of the children. The academic, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects are all taken into consideration within the design of the program as well as in the educational strategies practiced by the teachers. Our low student to teacher ratio also enables us to meet individual student needs. On average there is one teacher or aid for every 3 or 4 students.
Each student in the program is individually assessed in order to establish what specific needs are required to be addressed throughout the year.
BCA requires that a readiness checklist be filled out by the parents for each perspective student.
The checklist covers different developmental aspects like: Self Help Skills, Social/ Emotional Skills, Language skills (Expressive and receptive), Fine Motor Skills, Gross Motor Skills, Math Skills, Literacy/Phonic Awareness skills.
